Laboratory free fall experiment

To study free fall in laboratory you will need :

• 1 smartphone

• 1 internet connnection

• 1 computer (optionnal)

Let start the tutorial step by step :

Step 1)

Download the 'VidAnalysis Free' application on your android's smartphone .

Step 2)

Open VidAnalysis Free.

Step 3)

Click the camera on the upper right corner.

Step 4)

Click 'start analysis'

Step 5)

You must specify the length of a know distance (like a door or a person) by choosing two points and set the length in the window.

Step 6)

Start to analyse the video by tapping the falling object frame by frame until the end of the video.

Click on the menu on the 'save analysis file as CSV' and click OK.

ANALYSE THE CSV FILE

Step 1)

Open the file with Open Office Calc.

Step 2)

Untick the red boxes and tick the green boxe. Click OK.

Step 3)

Select the A - C columns by ctrl-click on them.

Step 4)

Create a diagram of these columns by clicking on "Digramme"

Step 5)

Select the XY representation.

That's it ! You can record, analyse and visualize the free fall !
